uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism

קִוִּ֣יתִי יְ֭הוָה קִוְּתָ֣ה נַפְשִׁ֑י

(Some words not found in UHB: wait_for YHWH waits self_of,my and,for,word_of,his hope )

These two phrases I wait for Yahweh and my soul waits mean basically the same thing. The second emphasizes the meaning of the first by repeating the same idea with different words. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could combine them and express the emphasis in another way. Alternate translation: [I wait eagerly for Yahweh]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

קִוְּתָ֣ה נַפְשִׁ֑י

(Some words not found in UHB: wait_for YHWH waits self_of,my and,for,word_of,his hope )

The psalmist is using the term soul to mean the entire person from the perspective of his spiritual and emotional existence. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [I wait with all my being]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

וְֽלִדְבָר֥וֹ הוֹחָֽלְתִּי

and,for,word_of,his (Some words not found in UHB: wait_for YHWH waits self_of,my and,for,word_of,his hope )

The psalmist is using the term word to represent what Yahweh has promised. If it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and in Yahweh’s promises I hope]
