Here the expression arose early does not necessarily mean that the Ashdodites got up earlier than usual in order to look inside the temple. While the author often does use the expression to mean that people got up earlier than usual in order to do an action he describes, for example, in [1:19](../01/19.md) and [15:12](../15/12.md), here and in the next verse it introduces what happened when the Ashdodites first got up. The UST models one way to express this meaning.
