(Occurrence 0) Yahweh of hosts … says this
(Some words not found in UHB: thus he/it_had_said YHWH armies/messengers god_of Yisrael to=say broken DOM yoke_of king Bāⱱel )
Jeremiah often uses these words to introduce an important message from Yahweh. See how you translated this in [Jeremiah 6:6](../06/06.md).
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
(Occurrence 0) I have broken the yoke imposed by the king of Babylon
(Some words not found in UHB: thus he/it_had_said YHWH armies/messengers god_of Yisrael to=say broken DOM yoke_of king Bāⱱel )
Hananaiah speaks of the people being in slavery as if they were oxen on which the Babylonians had put yokes to make them do heavy work. Alternate translation: “I have made it so you are no longer slaves of the king of Babylon” or “I have set you free from slavery to the king of Babylon”
28:1-17 Soon after the events of ch 27, a false prophet named Hananiah publicly confronted Jeremiah in the Temple courtyard. Each prophet gave what he claimed was a message from the Lord, but only Jeremiah’s prediction came true.
OET (OET-LV) Thus YHWH he_says hosts the_god_of Yisrāʼēl/(Israel) to_say I_will_break DOM the_yoke_of the_king_of Bāⱱel.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
