The word “see” alerts the reader to pay attention to what follows. Alternate translation: “Pay attention, because”

(Occurrence 0) set in motion

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when see/lo/see! I stir_up and,[I_am]_about_to_bring_up on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in Bāⱱel company_of nations great from,a_land_of north and,they_will_line_up to/for=her/it from=there captured arrows_of,its [will,be]_like_a_warrior skilled not return empty-handed )

Alternate translation: “stir up”

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

(Occurrence 0) Babylon will be captured from there

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when see/lo/see! I stir_up and,[I_am]_about_to_bring_up on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in Bāⱱel company_of nations great from,a_land_of north and,they_will_line_up to/for=her/it from=there captured arrows_of,its [will,be]_like_a_warrior skilled not return empty-handed )

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “These nations will capture Babylon”

(Occurrence 0) from there

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when see/lo/see! I stir_up and,[I_am]_about_to_bring_up on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in Bāⱱel company_of nations great from,a_land_of north and,they_will_line_up to/for=her/it from=there captured arrows_of,its [will,be]_like_a_warrior skilled not return empty-handed )

This could mean: (1) “from the north” or (2) “from their battle positions.”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / simile

(Occurrence 0) Their arrows are like a skilled warrior who does not return empty-handed

The effectiveness of the arrows of the attacking nations are spoken of as if they were soldiers that always accomplish their mission. The idiom “empty-handed” means “without success.” Alternate translation: Each of their arrows are like skilled soldiers that always hit their target” (See also: figs-idiom)

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

50:1–51:64 This message of judgment on Babylon is the longest for any nation except Judah, and threats against Babylon are interwoven with promises for Judah’s restoration. Babylon was the Lord’s agent for destroying the other civilizations of the Near East, but it was also guilty of its own sins. The Lord would judge Babylon by doing to her what she had done to others (50:15).
