וַ⁠יָּשִׂ֤מוּ לָ⁠הּ֙ יָדַ֔יִם

The author is using they put two hands to her as a common expression of his culture. It could mean: (1) that the soldiers made a clearing in the crowd so that Athaliah would have room on both sides to walk from the temple area back to the palace. Alternate translation: [And the soldiers cleared the way on both sides] or (2) that the soldiers physically seized her to arrest her. Alternate translation: [And the soldiers laid hands on her] or [And the soldiers arrested her]

The expression was killed is a passive verbal form. If your language would not use that form, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that would be natural in your language. Alternate translation: [and the soldiers killed her there]
