To translate this phrase here and in similar occurrences in the book, use a word, phrase, or other method in your language that is natural for introducing a new event.

Since the author says in the next verse that Elijah and Elisha “went down” to Bethel, the Gilgal he speaks of here cannot be the city in the Jordan River valley near Jericho, which was at a lower elevation than Bethel. The author must mean the city of Gilgal that was in the territory of the tribe of Ephraim, where there was a community of prophets, as the author indicates in [4:38](../04/38.md). You could indicate this explicitly in your translation if that would be helpful to your readers. The UST models one way to do that.
