In this verse and the next two verses, the author is introducing Jehoram as a participant in the story as the new king of Israel. In the preceding book of 1 Kings, the author introduced each new king in this same way, and he will introduce each new king this way throughout this book. It would be good to show this in your translation by representing his characteristic phrases the same way each time. If you have already translated the book of 1 Kings, see how you translated these phrases in [1 Kings 15:1](../1ki/15/01.md) and similar instances throughout that book.
Note 2 topic: translate-ordinal

If your language would not represent a number in a form such as 18, you could represent this number in a form that your language would use. Alternate translation: [in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat’s reign]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
