OET (OET-RV) So Yahweh got angry with Yisrael and he allowed them to be defeated by Aram’s King Haza’el and his son Ben-Hadad throughout Yehoahaz’s reign.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
(Occurrence 0) The anger of Yahweh burned against Israel
(Some words not found in UHB: and=it_glowed/burned also/though YHWH in/on/at/with,Israel and,gave,them in/on/at/with,hand_of Ḩₐzāʼēl king ʼArām and,in/on/at/with,hand_of son_of -hadad son_of Ḩₐzāʼēl all/each/any/every the=days )
Yahweh becoming angry with Israel is spoken of as if his anger was a fire that burned. Alternate translation: “Then Yahweh became very angry with Israel”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
(Occurrence 0) gave them continually into the hand of Hazael king of Aram and into the hand of Ben Hadad son of Hazael
Here “them” refers to Israel and “hand” refers to the power to control them. Alternate translation: “allowed Hazael the king of Aram, and Ben Hadad, his son, to repeatedly defeat the Israelites in battle”
13:3 Hazael, who had seized the throne of Aram in Damascus by assassinating his predecessor Ben-hadad II (8:15), continued the oppression of the northern kingdom.
• Ben-hadad apparently served as a commander in Hazael’s forces until he succeeded his father as king in 802 BC.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
