Here the word For introduces an explanation for what the author describes Yahweh doing in verses 4 and 5. Alternate translation: [Yahweh sent a savior to Israel because]

לֹא֩ הִשְׁאִ֨יר לִיהוֹאָחָ֜ז עָ֗ם כִּ֣י אִם־חֲמִשִּׁ֤ים פָּֽרָשִׁים֙ וַעֲשָׂ֣רָה רֶ֔כֶב וַעֲשֶׂ֥רֶת אֲלָפִ֖ים רַגְלִ֑י כִּ֤י אִבְּדָם֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֔ם

The pronoun he refers to the king of Aram. If it would be clearer in your language, you could name the king in the earlier part of the sentence and use the pronoun in the later part of the sentence. Alternate translation: [the king of Aram did not leave people to Jehoahaz except 50 horsemen and 10 chariots and 10,000 foot soldiers, for he destroyed them]

לֹא֩ הִשְׁאִ֨יר לִיהוֹאָחָ֜ז עָ֗ם כִּ֣י אִם־חֲמִשִּׁ֤ים פָּֽרָשִׁים֙ וַעֲשָׂ֣רָה רֶ֔כֶב וַעֲשֶׂ֥רֶת אֲלָפִ֖ים רַגְלִ֑י

If it would appear in your language that the author was making a statement and then contradicting it, you could reword this as a positive statement. Alternate translation: [the only people he left to Jehoahaz were 50 horsemen and 10 chariots and 10,000 foot soldiers]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
עָ֗ם
army
See how you translated the similar expression in [8:21](../08/21.md). Alternate translation: [soldiers]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
וַיְשִׂמֵ֥ם כֶּֽעָפָ֖ר לָדֻֽשׁ

The author is using the word threshing to represent “trampling,” since the way people threshed grain in this culture was to have oxen trample it. Alternate translation: [and he made them like dust that people trample on]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / simile
וַיְשִׂמֵ֥ם כֶּֽעָפָ֖ר לָדֻֽשׁ
(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when not left to,Jehoahaz army that/for/because/then/when if fifty horsemen and,ten chariots and,ten_of thousand footmen that/for/because/then/when he,had_destroyed_them king ʼArām and,he,had_made_them like, dust to,trample )
The point of this comparison is that just as dust is harmless and people can step on it easily, so the king of Aram defeated Israel’s army so completely that it became harmless and easy for anyone to defeat. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [and rendered them harmless] or [and rendered them completely vulnerable]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
