Note 1 topic: writing-background

The author is providing background information about something that Rezin did on this same military campaign. The author related in [14:22](../14/22.md) how Azariah, the grandfather of Ahaz, recaptured Elath and brought it back under the control of the kingdom of Judah. The renewed loss of this city shows how the kingdom declined because of the idolatry of Ahaz. In your translation, introduce this information in a way that would be natural in your own language and culture.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / events
הֵ֠שִׁיב & אֶת־אֵילַת֙ לַֽאֲרָ֔ם וַיְנַשֵּׁ֥ל אֶת־הַיְהוּדִ֖ים מֵֽאֵיל֑וֹת

The author is describing one event before describing another event that preceded it. If it would be helpful your language, you may wish to relate these events in the order in which they happened. Alternate translation: [drove the Judeans from Elath and restored Elath to Aram]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
וַיֵּ֣שְׁבוּ שָׁ֔ם עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה

See how you translated the same expression in [2:22](../02/22.md). Alternate translation: [and they are still living there at the time of this writing]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
