OET (OET-RV) Because of that, he’ll allow you to die and be buried peacefully, and you yourself won’t witness the destruction that will come to this place.”
¶ So they relayed those messages back to King Yoshiyah.

If you have decided to translate all of this long quotation in such a way that there will not be quotations within quotations, you can continue doing that in this verse. Alternate translation: [Tell him that Yahweh says that he is going to gather him to his fathers, and he will be gathered to his graves in peace, and his eyes will not see all of the disaster that he will bring upon this place]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
הִנְנִ֨י אֹֽסִפְךָ֜ עַל־אֲבֹתֶ֗יךָ
here,I [will]_gather_of,you on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in ancestors_of,your
See how you translated the similar expression in [20:5](../20/05.md). Alternate translation: [I am going to gather you to your fathers]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / euphemism
הִנְנִ֨י אֹֽסִפְךָ֜ עַל־אֲבֹתֶ֗יךָ
here,I [will]_gather_of,you on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in ancestors_of,your
See how you translated the similar expression in [8:24](../08/24.md). Alternate translation: [I am going to allow you to die]
Note 4 topic: translate-plural
וְנֶאֱסַפְתָּ֣ אֶל־קִבְרֹתֶיךָ֮
(Some words not found in UHB: for=so/thus/hence here,I [will]_gather_of,you on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in ancestors_of,your and,you_will_be_gathered to/towards grave(s)_of,your in,peace and=not see eyes_of,your on,all_of the,distress which/who I bring on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in the,place the=this and,they_brought_back DOM the=king message )
Yahweh is likely using the plural form graves because he means that Josiah will be buried in the royal family plot, where there are many graves of earlier kings. It may be more natural in your language to use a singular form. Alternate translation: [and you will be buried in your grave] or [and you will be buried in the royal family plot]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
וְנֶאֱסַפְתָּ֣ אֶל־קִבְרֹתֶיךָ֮
(Some words not found in UHB: for=so/thus/hence here,I [will]_gather_of,you on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in ancestors_of,your and,you_will_be_gathered to/towards grave(s)_of,your in,peace and=not see eyes_of,your on,all_of the,distress which/who I bring on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in the,place the=this and,they_brought_back DOM the=king message )
The expression will be gathered is a passive verbal form. If your language would not use that form, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that would be natural in your language. Alternate translation: [and the Judeans will bury you in your grave]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
בְּשָׁלוֹם֒
(Some words not found in UHB: for=so/thus/hence here,I [will]_gather_of,you on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in ancestors_of,your and,you_will_be_gathered to/towards grave(s)_of,your in,peace and=not see eyes_of,your on,all_of the,distress which/who I bring on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in the,place the=this and,they_brought_back DOM the=king message )
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of peace, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [peacefully]
Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / synecdoche
וְלֹא־תִרְאֶ֣ינָה עֵינֶ֔יךָ
and=not see eyes_of,your
Yahweh using one part of Josiah, his eyes, to mean all of him in the act of potentially seeing the disaster that he will bring upon Jerusalem. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and you will not see] or [and you will not personally witness]
Note 8 topic: figures-of-speech / quotemarks
אֲשֶׁר־אֲנִ֥י מֵבִ֖יא עַל־הַמָּק֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה

This is the conclusion of the second-level and third-level quotations that began in the previous two verses. It is also the end of the first-level quotation that began in verse 15. If you have decided to use punctuation to mark levels of quotation, end this verse with the appropriate punctuation for closing those levels of quotation.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
