OET (OET-LV) A_man a_man of_offspring_of of_ʼAhₐron and_he is_having_a_serious_skin_disease or is_discharging in/on/at/with_sacred_donations not he_will_eat until that he_will_be_pure and_the_touches in_all thing_unclean_of a_corpse or anyone whom it_will_go_out from_him/it a_laying_of seed.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / reduplication
אִ֣ישׁ אִ֞ישׁ
(a)_man (a)_man
Here, the word man refers to any male priest. See how you handled the repetition of the word man in [15:2](../15/02.md). Alternate translation: [Any priest]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
מִזֶּ֣רַע אַהֲרֹ֗ן
(Some words not found in UHB: (a)_man (a)_man of,offspring_of ʼAhₐron's and=he a_leprous_disease or discharge in/on/at/with,sacred_donations not eat until which/who clean and,the,touches in=all unclean_of creature or (a)_man which/who goes_out from=him/it emission_of seed )
See how you handled this metaphor for descendants in [20:2](../20/02.md). Alternate translation: [from the children of Aaron] or [from Aaron’s descendants]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
וְה֤וּא צָר֨וּעַ֙ א֣וֹ זָ֔ב
(Some words not found in UHB: (a)_man (a)_man of,offspring_of ʼAhₐron's and=he a_leprous_disease or discharge in/on/at/with,sacred_donations not eat until which/who clean and,the,touches in=all unclean_of creature or (a)_man which/who goes_out from=him/it emission_of seed )
The terms skin diseased and flowing refer to various kinds of visible, infectious skin diseases. See how you translated the expression skin diseased in [13:44](../13/44.md). Similarly, see how you translated the word flowing in [15:2](../15/02.md).
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / genericnoun
וְהַנֹּגֵ֨עַ֙ בְּכָל־ טְמֵא
and,the,touches in=all unclean_of
This expression refers generally to any priest who touches something unclean, not to a specific priest. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a more natural expression. Alternate translation: [And any priest who touches anything unclean]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / possession
בְּכָל־ טְמֵא־ נֶ֔פֶשׁ
(Some words not found in UHB: (a)_man (a)_man of,offspring_of ʼAhₐron's and=he a_leprous_disease or discharge in/on/at/with,sacred_donations not eat until which/who clean and,the,touches in=all unclean_of creature or (a)_man which/who goes_out from=him/it emission_of seed )
This expression uses the possessive form to describe anything unclean that is characterized by its having a human source. In other words, the phrase described human uncleanness, whether an unclean person or a discharge or blood that has come from a person. If your language would not use the possessive form for this, you could use a generic expression. Alternate translation: [anything unclean that has come from a person] or [any unclean person]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
אִ֔ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־ תֵּצֵ֥א מִמֶּ֖נּוּ שִׁכְבַת־ זָֽרַע׃
(a)_man which/who goes_out (Some words not found in UHB: (a)_man (a)_man of,offspring_of ʼAhₐron's and=he a_leprous_disease or discharge in/on/at/with,sacred_donations not eat until which/who clean and,the,touches in=all unclean_of creature or (a)_man which/who goes_out from=him/it emission_of seed )
See how you translated the similar expression in [15:16](../15/16.md).
22:2-6 The priest’s portions of the sacred offerings were regarded as “most holy” (see 2:3) and were not to come into contact with anything unclean (11:1–15:33). Accordingly, any descendant of Aaron who was unclean was forbidden to eat this food.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
