TSNTyndale Study Notes:

11:34 A little help came when the family of Mattathias and those around them, who were called Maccabees, instigated a national revolt which Antiochus, occupied elsewhere, could not put down. In 164 BC, three years after the Temple had been desecrated, the Maccabees recaptured Jerusalem, removed the sacrilegious object (the statue of Zeus), cleansed the altar, and restored the daily sacrifices (8:11-14, 26; 1 Maccabees 1:59). This event is commemorated at Hanukkah (see John 10:22).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

וְנִלְו֧וּ עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם רַבִּ֖ים בַּחֲלַקְלַקּֽוֹת

and,join with,them many in/on/at/with,hypocrisy

This refers to other people who will pretend to help the wise persons, but not because they truly wish to help them.

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

וְנִלְו֧וּ

and,join

Here join themselves means “come to help.” Alternate translation: “will come to help them”
