TSNTyndale Study Notes:

5:22-33 Christian wives are to submit to their husbands, showing them respect. Equally important, Christian husbands are to love their wives (see Col 3:18-19). Christian marriages become a reflection of the union and relationship between the Lord and the church.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result

ὅτι

because

The connecting word because introduces the reason of a reason-result relationship. The reason is that the church is Christ’s body. The result is that Christ cares for the church. Use a phrase in your language that connects a reason to a result.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

μέλη ἐσμὲν τοῦ σώματος αὐτοῦ

members ˱we˲_are ˱of˲_the body ˱of˲_him

Here Paul speaks of the close union of believers with Christ as if they were part of his own body, for which he would naturally care.
