TSNTyndale Study Notes:

14:12 Riddles were common tests of skill or a form of entertainment that usually employed double meanings. Despite some evidence for bees building hives in the bodies of dead animals, there was no apparent way to crack the mystery apart from knowing what Samson knew.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / events

If declaring, you declare it to me {during} the seven days of the feast and you find {it}

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said to/for=them Shimshōn tell now to/for=you_all riddle if to_tell explain DOM,it to=me seven days_of the,feast and,find_~_out and,give to/for=you_all thirty linen_garments and=thirty changes clothes )

Samson is describing one event before describing another event that would have to precede it. In your translation, you may wish to relate these events in the order in which they happened. Alternate translation: “If you are able to figure it out and tell me the answer during the seven days of the feast”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / reduplication

If declaring, you declare it

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said to/for=them Shimshōn tell now to/for=you_all riddle if to_tell explain DOM,it to=me seven days_of the,feast and,find_~_out and,give to/for=you_all thirty linen_garments and=thirty changes clothes )

Samson is repeating the verb declare in order to intensify the idea that it expresses. If your language can repeat words for intensification, it would be appropriate to do that here in your translation. If not, your language may have another way of expressing the emphasis. Alternate translation: “If in fact you are able to declare it”
