OET (OET-RV) As for the ten horns, ten kings will become prominent in that kingdom, and then another king will appear. He will be different from the previous kings, and he will overcome three of them.

These ten kings will rule one after the other. This can be stated explicitly. Alternate translation: “ten kings will rule over this fourth kingdom, one after another”

וְאָחֳרָ֞ן יְק֣וּם אַחֲרֵיה֗וֹן

This other king is not one of the ten. It may be helpful to refer to him as “the eleventh king.” Alternate translation: “after that an eleventh king will become powerful”
וְה֤וּא יִשְׁנֵא֙ מִן־קַדְמָיֵ֔א

Alternate translation: “He will be different from the other ten kings”

He will defeat three of the original ten kings. It may be helpful to state that those three kings are represented by the three horns that were pulled out. Alternate translation: “he will defeat the three kings that were represented by the three horns that were pulled out”
7:1-28 This chapter contains a terrifying vision (7:2-14) and its interpretation (7:17-27). The sequence of kingdoms recalls Nebuchadnezzar’s dream some forty-five years earlier (2:1-45).
