OET (OET-LV)And_he/it_said exceedingly_(be_zealous) I_have_been_zealous to/for_YHWH the_god_of hosts if/because they_have_abandoned covenant_of_your the_people_of Yisrāʼēl/(Israel) DOM altars_of_your they_have_torn_down and_DOM prophets_of_your they_have_killed in/on/at/with_sword and_left I by_myself_of_I and_seek DOM life_of_my to_take_away_it.

OET (OET-RV)“I’ve been very zealous for you, army commander Yahweh,” he replied. “But the Israeli people have abandoned your agreement, and they’ve torn down your altars and killed your prophets with the sword. So here I am, left by myself while meanwhile they’re trying to kill me.”

uW Translation Notes:

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

19:9-10 a cave (literally the cave): Some have suggested that Elijah came to the very place where God appeared to Moses (Exod 33:21-23).
• What are you doing here, Elijah? The Lord’s question may have a double implication: Why had Elijah come, and did he understand the significance of the spot where he stood? Elijah replied to the former part of the question. Elijah had boldly announced that he was alone in his stand for the Lord (1 Kgs 18:22); now, that feeling turned to self-pity.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
