OET (OET-LV)Go_back and_say to Ḩizqiyyāh the_ruler people_my thus he_says YHWH the_god of_Dāvid I_will_show_you(ms) I_have_heard DOM prayer_your I_have_seen DOM tears_your see_I [am]_about_to_heal to/for_you(fs) in_the_day the_third you_will_go_up the_house of_YHWH.

OET (OET-RV)“Go back and tell Hizkiyyah, the leader of my people, ‘Your ancestor David’s God Yahweh says that he’s heard your prayer and seen your tears. He’s decided to heal you and you’ll be well enough to go to the temple within three days.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism

(Occurrence 0) I have heard your prayer, and I have seen your tears

(Some words not found in UHB: go_back and,say to/towards Ḩizqiyyāh leader people,my thus he/it_had_said YHWH god Dāvid I_will_show=you(ms) I_heard DOM prayer,your seen DOM tears,your behold,I heal to/for=you(fs) in_the=day the=third go_up house_of YHWH )

The second part reinforces the first part to make one message by using parallelism. Alternate translation: “I have heard your prayers and seen your tears”

(Occurrence 0) on the third day

(Some words not found in UHB: go_back and,say to/towards Ḩizqiyyāh leader people,my thus he/it_had_said YHWH god Dāvid I_will_show=you(ms) I_heard DOM prayer,your seen DOM tears,your behold,I heal to/for=you(fs) in_the=day the=third go_up house_of YHWH )

Alternate translation: “two days from now” The day Isaiah said this was the first day, so “the third day” would be the same as “two days from now.”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

20:5 Hezekiah’s commitment to the Lord compared favorably with that of his ancestor David (18:3). Just as God had heard David’s prayers (Pss 6:8-9; 28:6-7; 31:22; 40:1-2), he would answer Hezekiah’s plea.
