The mediums were people who claimed to speak with dead people. The spiritists claimed to be able to predict what would happen in the future. The Israelites were not allowed to have anything to do with these people.

אַל־תְּבַקְשׁ֖וּ לְ⁠טָמְאָ֣ה בָ⁠הֶ֑ם
