uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

וּמִסַּ֨ל הַמַּצּ֜וֹת אֲשֶׁ֣ר׀ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֗ה

and,from,basket_of the,unleavened_bread which/who to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before YHWH

The expression to the face of Yahweh here refers to the location of the basket of the unleavened bread, as specified in [Exodus 29:3](../exo/29/03.md). If it would be helpful in your language, consider stating the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [And from the basket of the unleavened bread that was placed in Yahweh’s presence in the sacred precincts of the sacred tent where Yahweh lived among the Israelites]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / possession

וּמִסַּ֨ל הַמַּצּ֜וֹת

and,from,basket_of the,unleavened_bread

The expression the basket of the unleavened bread uses the possessive form to describe a basket that is characterized by the presence of unleavened bread. If this would be unclear in your language, consider stating the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [And from the basket that contained the unleavened bread]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / possession

וְֽחַלַּ֨ת לֶ֥חֶם שֶׁ֛מֶן אַחַ֖ת

and,cake_of food/grain/bread oil one(fs)

The expression loaf of bread of oil uses the possessive form to describe a loaf of bread that is characterized by the presence of oil on top. It corresponds to the bread whose flour is well-soaked with oil in [7:12](../07/12.md). Alternate translation: [and one loaf of bread that was well-soaked with oil]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

8:1-36 In Exod 28–29, the Lord gave Moses specific instructions for clothing and for ordaining Aaron and his sons as priests. In Exod 39:1-31; 40:12-16; and Lev 8, the commands were carried out. Moses didn’t just pass along the instructions verbally; he enacted the rituals to provide an example for the priests down to the last detail, just as the Lord had commanded him (8:9, 13, 17, 21, 29). Because the penalty for disobedience was death, God made sure the priests knew exactly what to do.
