OET (OET-LV) And_man who he_will_be_unclean and_not he_will_purify_himself and_cut_off the_living_creatures the_that from_midst_of the_assembly if/because DOM the_sanctuary_of YHWH he_has_made_unclean water_of impurity not it_has_been_sprinkled on/upon/above_him/it is_unclean he.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
The ideas of “clean” and “purify” represent being acceptable to God and making something acceptable to God. The ideas of “unclean,” “defile,” and “impurity,” represent not being acceptable to God, making something unacceptable to God, and the state of being unacceptable to God.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
וְנִכְרְתָ֛ה הַנֶּ֥פֶשׁ הַהִ֖וא
and,cut_off the=living_creatures the=that
Here the phrase be cut off means to be disowned and sent away. See how you translated this in [Numbers 9:13](../09/13.md). Alternate translation: “that person must be sent away” or “you must send that person away”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
(Occurrence 0) The water for impurity has not been sprinkled on him
(Some words not found in UHB: and,man which/who unclean and=not purify and,cut_off the=living_creatures the=that from,midst_of the,assembly that/for/because/then/when DOM sanctuary_of YHWH defiled water_of impurity not sprinkled on/upon/above=him/it unclean he/it )
If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “No one has sprinkled the water for impurity on him”
19:1-22 This account considers the procedure by which ordinary Israelites defiled by contact with a corpse (see 9:4-12; Lev 17:15; 21:1-4, 11-12) could regain ceremonial purity and keep from defiling the Tabernacle. God’s holiness requires that the place where his presence dwells be kept pure and set apart from pollution (cp. 1 Cor 6:9-11, 18-20).
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
