ULTAnd he did what was evil in the eyes of Yahweh. And he walked after the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin—he did not turn away from it.

USTHe did many things that Yahweh said were evil and committed the same kind of sins that Jeroboam had committed, sins that had induced the people of Israel to sin. He did not stop committing those sins.

13:1-2 Jehoahaz (814–798 BC) began his reign in Israel in the year that King Joash of Judah assumed direction of repairs on the Temple (12:6). Because Jehoahaz perpetuated the state religion instituted by Jeroboam I (1 Kgs 12:26-33), his spiritual evaluation was negative.
