13.14 Elisæus autem. RAB.

13.14 Elisæus however. RAB. Redemptor noster rectoribus Ecclesiæ armis spiritualibus se indui, and on_the_contrary hostem antiquum præcipit præliari. Arcus sacrum it_is eloquium, that from both Testamento velut from cornu and chorda constat. Per Vetus quippe Testamentum figuratur cornu propter duritiam; through Novum indeed/yet, that incarnato Master done it_is, figuratur chorda: and dum chorda trahitur, cornu curvatur, because when/with Novum Testamentum discutitur, Vetus from rigore his_own to intellectum spiritualem flectitur. Sagittæ are words which doctores proferunt. Nos therefore when/with Scripturæ sacræ dicta pensamus, arcum intendimus; when/with words doctrinæ damus, sagittas emittimus.

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

13:14 Jehoash wept over Elisha, showing that a faint glow of spiritual consciousness still existed in him.
• the chariots and charioteers of Israel: Jehoash’s tribute to Elisha is reminiscent of Elisha’s words at Elijah’s departure (2:12).
