OET (OET-LV) But the Petros said:
Ananias, because/for_ Why _reason the Satan/(Sāţān) filled the heart of_you, for_you to_lie to_the the holy spirit, and to_embezzle from the value of_the property?
OET (OET-RV) Then Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your mind such that you would lie to the holy spirit and keep aside some of the proceeds of the property?
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion
διὰ τί ἐπλήρωσεν ὁ Σατανᾶς τὴν καρδίαν σου, ψεύσασθαί σε τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ Ἅγιον, καὶ νοσφίσασθαι ἀπὸ τῆς τιμῆς τοῦ χωρίου?
for_reason why filled ¬the Satan the heart ˱of˲_you /to/_lie ˱for˲_you ˱to˲_the Spirit ¬the Holy and /to/_embezzle from the value ˱of˲_the property
Peter is using the question form to rebuke Ananias. If you would not use a rhetorical question for this purpose in your language, you could translate this as a statement or an exclamation. Alternate translation: [you should not have let Satan fill your heart so that you lied to the Holy Spirit and kept back from the price of the land!]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
διὰ τί ἐπλήρωσεν ὁ Σατανᾶς τὴν καρδίαν σου
for_reason why filled ¬the Satan the heart ˱of˲_you
Peter is speaking of the heart of Ananias as if it were a container that Satan had filled. Alternate translation: [why have you allowed Satan to influence your heart so strongly]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
τὴν καρδίαν σου
the heart ˱of˲_you
Here, the heart represents the thoughts and motives. Alternate translation: [your thoughts and motives]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / events
ψεύσασθαί σε τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ Ἅγιον, καὶ νοσφίσασθαι ἀπὸ τῆς τιμῆς τοῦ χωρίου
/to/_lie ˱for˲_you ˱to˲_the Spirit ¬the Holy and /to/_embezzle from the value ˱of˲_the property
Ananais first withheld some of the money, then he lied to the Holy Spirit about this by pretending he was giving all of the money. To make this clear in your translation, it may be helpful to describe the events in that order. Alternate translation: [for you to keep back from the price of the land and lie to the Holy Spirit]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
ψεύσασθαί σε τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ Ἅγιον
/to/_lie ˱for˲_you ˱to˲_the Spirit ¬the Holy
Ananias did not lie literally to the Holy Spirit, but he did lie to the apostles and to all of the believers who would have learned about his gift, and the Holy Spirit was present in them. So by lying to them, he was effectively also lying to the Holy Spirit. Alternate translation: [for you to lie to the Holy Spirit, who is present in us]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
καὶ νοσφίσασθαι ἀπὸ τῆς τιμῆς
and /to/_embezzle from the value
The implication of what Peter says here is that Ananias claimed or pretended that he was giving the entire amount that he had received from selling his land. Alternate translation: [by pretending that you were giving us the entire amount when you had kept back some for yourself]
5:1-11 Luke is fond of balancing a positive example with a negative example. He has just recorded the remarkable story of Barnabas (4:36-37). Now Luke presents the opposite conduct of Ananias and Sapphira, who were tempted by the desire to be held in high regard. Ananias had not been forced to sell his property or to give the proceeds away. The couple’s sin was in their pretense and deception.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
