OET (OET-LV)And_adopted the_Jews DOM [that]_which they_had_begun for_doing and_DOM [that]_which he_had_written Mārəddəkay to_them.

OET (OET-RV) The Jews had already celebrated those days that way, so they readily agreed to do what Mordekai had written.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

וְקִבֵּל֙ & אֲשֶׁר־כָּתַ֥ב מָרְדֳּכַ֖י אֲלֵיהֶֽם

and,adopted & which/who (Some words not found in UHB: and,adopted the,Jews DOM which/who begun for=doing and=DOM which/who written Mārəddəkay to,them )

The implication seems to be that the Jews were glad to do what Mordecai had instructed, because they had already been doing it. You can add a word such as “readily” to indicate this.

וְקִבֵּל֙

and,adopted

Alternate translation: “agreed”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / events

אֲשֶׁר־הֵחֵ֖לּוּ לַעֲשׂ֑וֹת

which/who begun for=doing

You can put this information first, to present the events in logical and chronological order. Alternate translation: “the Jews were already celebrating those days that way”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

9:23-26 These verses summarize the events leading to the Festival of Purim.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Greek words that they’re translated from.
