Here “sword” is a metonym for an attacking enemy army. Alternate translation: “When enemy armies attack you”
28:20-24 No specific charges are made against Sidon, Tyre’s close neighbor to the north, though presumably it was guilty of similar offenses. Its rejoicing at Judah’s destruction would not last.
OET (OET-LV) And_send in/on/at/with_her a_pestilence and_blood in/on/at/with_streets_of_her and_fall the_slain in/on/at/with_midst_of_her in/on/at/with_sword on/upon_it(f) on_every_side and_know if/because_that I am_YHWH.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
