OET (OET-RV)Didn’t I order you to be strong and courageous? Don’t tremble or be discouraged because your God Yahweh will be with you wherever you go.”

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

הֲל֤וֹא צִוִּיתִ֨יךָ֙

am=not I_commanded=you(ms)

The author is not asking for information, but is using the question form for emphasis. If you would not use a rhetorical question for this purpose in your language, you could translate these words as a statement or an exclamation and communicate the emphasis in another way as modeled by the Alternate translation: “I have commanded you!” or “Surely I have commanded you!”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / doublet

חֲזַ֣ק וֶאֱמָ֔ץ

strong and,courageous

See how you translated Be strong and be courageous in 1:6.

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / 123person

יְהוָ֣ה

YHWH

Here Yahweh speaks about himself in the third person. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use the first person as modeled by the UST.

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

1:9 As the Israelites entered Canaan, they would fight the worshipers of the Canaanite gods, but they were afraid these gods would grant the Canaanites victory in battle. In reassuring Joshua, God used his personal name the Lord (Hebrew Yahweh; see study note on Exod 3:15) to remind Joshua that the Lord was more powerful than any false gods the Canaanites might invoke.
• your God is with you: God’s continuous presence made it possible for Joshua to heed God’s instruction.
