OET (OET-RV)

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / gendernotations

בְּאָדָ֑ם

in/on/at/with,person

Although the term man is masculine, it is being used the word in a generic sense that includes both men and women. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a phrase that makes this clear. Alternate translation: [on a person]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

וְהוּבָ֖א אֶל־הַכֹּהֵֽן׃

and,brought to/towards (Some words not found in UHB: infection_of skin_disease that/for/because/then/when is in/on/at/with,person and,brought to/towards the=priest/officer )

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [then someone must bring him to the priest”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

13:1-46 a serious skin disease (Hebrew tsara‘at): The Hebrew word is much broader than the severely disfiguring Hansen’s disease (see study note on 13:2). This larger range included symptoms such as an open sore (13:10), a boil (13:18), a burn (13:24), a sore on the head or chin (13:29), shiny white patches (13:38), or abnormal baldness (13:40). A general test was whether or not the abnormality was spreading (13:5-8). If so, a quarantine was ordered for as long as the disorder persisted (13:46). Not just people, but clothing (13:47-59) and even buildings (14:33-53) could contract such infections.
