uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-pronouns

אַתָּֽה־יְהוָ֥ה תִּשְׁמְרֵ֑ם

(Some words not found in UHB: words_of YHWH words/messages pure silver refined in,a_crucible of,earth purified seven_times )

David is stating the pronoun you separately, even though the verb translated as you will keep them already includes this meaning. He is doing that to emphasize that it is Yahweh himself who will keep and protect “the poor” and “the needy” mentioned in verse 5. If a speaker of your language would use an explicit pronoun for the same purpose, you may want to use that construction in your translation. If not, your language may have other ways of showing the meaning here. Alternate translation: [Indeed, it is you Yahweh who will keep them]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism

אַתָּֽה־יְהוָ֥ה תִּשְׁמְרֵ֑ם תִּצְּרֶ֓נּוּ

(Some words not found in UHB: words_of YHWH words/messages pure silver refined in,a_crucible of,earth purified seven_times )

These two phrases you will keep them and You will protect him mean basically the same thing. The second emphasizes the meaning of the first by repeating the same idea with different words. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could combine them and express the emphasis in another way. See how you as a team have decided to translate the parallel phrases in the Psalms, and follow that approach here and throughout this psalm. Alternate translation: [You yourself, Yahweh, will surely keep the poor and the needy safe]

Note 3 topic: writing-pronouns

אַתָּֽה־יְהוָ֥ה תִּשְׁמְרֵ֑ם תִּצְּרֶ֓נּוּ

(Some words not found in UHB: words_of YHWH words/messages pure silver refined in,a_crucible of,earth purified seven_times )

The pronoun them refers to the poor and needy people, while the pronoun him also refers to these same people. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [You yourself Yahweh will keep the poor and needy. You will protect the poor and the needy]

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

לְעוֹלָֽם

(Some words not found in UHB: words_of YHWH words/messages pure silver refined in,a_crucible of,earth purified seven_times )

The psalmist assumes that readers will know that the phrase for eternity means “forever” or “continually.” You could say that explicitly if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [forever]

OET (OET-RV)  ⇔ Yahweh, you will protect them.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
