OET (OET-LV)And secondly they_have_said:
Praise_Yāh.
And the smoke of_her is_going_up to the ages of_the ages.

OET (OET-RV)Then the crowd called out again, “Praise Yahweh. The smoke from her burning will keep rising throughout the ages.”

SIL Open Translator’s Notes:

Section 19:1–10: A huge crowd praised God

In this section, a huge crowd praised God because God had punished Babylon. The twenty-four elders in heaven and the four living creatures around the throne in heaven worshiped God in response.

Then a voice from the throne urged all who follow God to praise him. Another crowd (or possibly the same crowd as in 19:1–3) praised God for gathering believers to Jesus. This gathering was referred to as a wedding. An angel told John a message for him to write.

Other examples of headings for this section are:

Crowds/Multitudes sang songs of victory and praise

Various groups sang songs of victory and praise

Rejoicing in Heaven (ESV)

19:3a

And a second time they called out: “Hallelujah!

a second time they called out: The Greek clause is literally “they said a second time.” It indicates they spoke more. It does not mean that they repeated exactly what they said earlier.

called out: The Greek word that the BSB translates as called out is literally “said.” Translate this word as you did in 19:1.

19:3b

Her smoke rises forever and ever.”

Her smoke rises: This phrase refers to evidence of the punishment that was given to Babylon. The beast and the ten kings will burn the city named Babylon (17:16) but God’s punishment lasts forever. The Greek grammar and the BSB have the focus on the smoke. The focus is not on who burned her here. Other ways to translate this phrase are:

her smoke (NCV)

the smoke from her punishment

forever and ever: The Greek phrase is literally “into the ages of the ages.” The word “age” refers to a very long time. So the phrase “the ages of the ages” refers to eternity. For example:

for timeless ages (JBP)

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / nominaladj

δεύτερον

secondly

John is using the adjective second as a noun to mean a certain time. ULT adds the word time to show that. Your language may use adjectives in the same way. If not, you could translate this word with an equivalent phrase. Alternate translation: [again]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

ὁ καπνὸς αὐτῆς

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: Καί δεύτερον εἴρηκαν Ἁλληλουϊά Καί Ὁ καπνός αὐτῆς ἀναβαίνει εἰς τούς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων)

See how you translated the similar expression in [18:9](../18/09.md). Alternate translation: [the smoke from the fire that is burning her]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων

to (Some words not found in SR-GNT: Καί δεύτερον εἴρηκαν Ἁλληλουϊά Καί Ὁ καπνός αὐτῆς ἀναβαίνει εἰς τούς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων)

This expression refers to endless future time. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [for all eternity]

OET (OET-RV)Then the crowd called out again, “Praise Yahweh. The smoke from her burning will keep rising throughout the ages.”

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
