OET (OET-LV)And fell the elders the twenty four, and the four living_creatures, and they_prostrated the before_god, the one sitting on the throne saying:
Truly.
Praise_Yāh.

OET (OET-RV)Then the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures knelt down and worshipped God, the one sitting on the throne, saying, “May it be so. Praise Yahweh.”

SIL Open Translator’s Notes:

Section 19:1–10: A huge crowd praised God

In this section, a huge crowd praised God because God had punished Babylon. The twenty-four elders in heaven and the four living creatures around the throne in heaven worshiped God in response.

Then a voice from the throne urged all who follow God to praise him. Another crowd (or possibly the same crowd as in 19:1–3) praised God for gathering believers to Jesus. This gathering was referred to as a wedding. An angel told John a message for him to write.

Other examples of headings for this section are:

Crowds/Multitudes sang songs of victory and praise

Various groups sang songs of victory and praise

Rejoicing in Heaven (ESV)

19:4a

And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down

elders: Here the word elders refers to those who have authority. For example:

leaders (GW)

These are the same elders as in 4:4. See how you translated this word there.

four living creatures: The Greek word that the BSB translates as living creatures is literally “living (ones).” The word refers to heavenly beings that John described in 4:7–8. Other ways to translate this phrase are:

four living beings (NLT)

four living things/ones

See how you translated this phrase in 4:6 or 14:3.

fell down: Here the phrase fell down refers to kneeling and putting the face to the ground with arms outstretched toward someone. This position showed complete humility before that person and honored him. The word fell implies a quick and complete action. It does not refer to accidentally falling. Other ways to translate this phrase are:

prostrated themselves

threw themselves to the ground (NET)

Many languages have a different action that shows humility and honors someone. If that is true in your language, you may want to use that action. See how you translated this phrase in 3:9 or 11:16.

19:4b

and worshiped God who sits on the throne,

worshiped: This word refers to honoring someone or something as sacred/divine. Other ways to translate this word are:

venerated

revered

See how you translated this word in 13:4 or 15:4.

God who sits on the throne: This clause tells the reader more about God. In some languages a literal translation would wrongly indicate that there are other gods and only this one sits on the throne. If that is true in your language, translate this clause so that it tells more about God. One way to do that is to start a new sentence here. For example:

God sits on the throne.

throne: This word refers to the official chair of a king. It is a symbol of his power to rule. Here the word throne refers to the place from where God rules. See how you translated this word in 1:4.

19:4c

saying: “Amen, Hallelujah!”

saying: The Greek word that the BSB literally translates as saying indicates that what they said was a part of their worship. The people spoke fervently, so some English versions use the word “cried.” That word does not refer to weeping or wailing.

Amen: The word Amen is a Hebrew word that means “even so” or “it is true.” It is used to agree with what was said. The Greek borrowed the Hebrew word. English borrowed this word as well. See how you translated this word in 1:6 or 7:12.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: translate-symaction

ἔπεσαν & καὶ προσεκύνησαν τῷ Θεῷ

fell & (Some words not found in SR-GNT: Καί ἔπεσαν οἱ πρεσβύτεροι οἱ εἴκοσι τέσσαρες καί τά τέσσαρα ζῷα καί προσεκύνησαν τῷ Θεῷ τῷ καθημένῳ ἐπί τῷ θρόνῳ λέγοντες Ἀμήν Ἁλληλουϊά)

Be sure that it is clear in your translation that the elders and living creatures did not fall down accidentally. Rather, bowing or lying down in front of God was a sign of humility and respect. Alternate translation: [bowed down in front of God to worship him]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

19:4 In response to the first two praises (19:1-3), the elders and the living beings (see ch 4) again prostrate themselves before the enthroned God (see 4:10; 5:8, 14; 7:11).
• Amen! See study note on 5:14.
