BrTrAnd one of his servants answered and said, Let them now take five of the horses that were left, which were left here; behold, they are the number left to all the multitude of Israel; and we will send thither and see.

ULTAnd one from his servants answered, and he said, “And, please, let us take five from the remaining horses which were left in it. Look at them—like all the population of Israel who are left in it. Look at them—like all the population of Israel who are finished. And let us send, and let us see.”

USTBut one of his officials said, “Many of our people have already died from hunger. If those of us who are still alive all stay here, we also will die anyway. So let us send some men with five of our horses that are still alive to go and see what has really happened.”

7:13-17 The trail of abandoned articles confirmed the Arameans’ rush to escape, and the Israelites plundered the Aramean camp. True to Elisha’s prophecy, food supplies were now readily available, and Joram’s doubting officer was knocked down and trampled to death.
