TSNTyndale Study Notes:

4:1-13 Satan tempted Jesus to bypass his Father’s plan of salvation by taking power and glory for himself. The forty-day temptation in the wilderness parallels Israel’s forty years of testing in the wilderness. Israel failed when tested, but Jesus was victorious.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-newevent

Ἰησοῦς δὲ

Jesus and

Luke uses this expression to return to the story after providing background information about Jesus’ ancestors. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could include a phrase that would provide continuity with the previous episode in the story. Alternate translation: “After John had baptized Jesus, then Jesus”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

ἤγετο ἐν τῷ Πνεύματι

/was_being/_led by the Spirit

If your language does not use this passive form, you can state this in active form. Alternate translation: “the Spirit led him”
