OET (OET-LV)Lest you_all_should_say we_have_found wisdom god refute_him not a_human.

OET (OET-RV) So don’t tell yourselves that you displayed wisdom.
⇔ It’s God who must refute him—not any person.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / quotesinquotes

פֶּן־תֹּ֣֭אמְרוּ מָצָ֣אנוּ חָכְמָ֑ה

lest say found wisdom

If it would be clearer in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation. It may be helpful to begin a new sentence here. Alternate translation: “So do not say that you have found wisdom”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / gendernotations

לֹא־אִֽישׁ

not (a)_man

Elihu is using the masculine term man in a generic sense that includes both men and women. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could use language in your translation that is clearly inclusive of both men and women. Alternate translation: “not a mere human being”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

32:1–37:24 Having completed three cycles of speeches between Job and his three friends, we now hear from a new voice. Elihu has not been previously introduced, but he is a young man who has listened to everything the others have said.
