¶ The throne for God and the lamb will be in the city, and his slaves will be serving him.
In this section, an angel showed the new Jerusalem to John. The angel again used a metaphor of a bride to describe new Jerusalem. The city was large and beautiful. God lived there with his people. His glory lighted the city. John described the city, the river that flowed through the city, and the tree that gave life. There were no bad things in the city at all.

No longer will there be any curse: The Greek clause is literally “every curse will no longer be/exist.” There are two ways to interpret this clause:
This clause indicates that all promises of destruction are gone. For example:
There will no longer be any curse (NASB) (BSB, NIV, NJB, NASB, NLT, GW, CEV, NET, KJV)
This clause indicates that all people and things that God has promised to destroy are gone. For example:
Nothing that is under God’s curse will be found in the city (GNT) (RSV, GNT, NABRE, REB, ESV)
It is recommended that you follow interpretation (1), because the focus of the clause is on the curse and not on who or what is cursed.Beale (page 1112) says “any curse…The phrase is from Zech. 14:11…‘a curse’.” Smalley (page 527) translates the Greek word katathema as “The curse of destruction.” Beckwith (page 766) says, “there will no more be a curse of God.”
curse: The Greek word that the BSB translates as curse means “promising to completely destroy something.” Other ways to translate this word are:
promise to destroy
curse of destruction (NJB)
The throne of God and of the Lamb will be within the city,
¶ The throne that belongs to God and the Lamb will be in the city,
¶ The place/seat of ruling where God and the Lamb sit/rule will be in the city,
the city: The Greek word here is “her.” In Greek “street” (22:2a) is also feminine, but city (21:23a) makes more sense here.
and His servants will worship Him.
and his servants/slaves will serve him.
and those who serve him/God will do his will.
and the people serving him/God will do what he commands them to do.
His servants: The Greek word that the BSB translates as servants can also be translated as “slaves.” Here the phrase refers to believers serving God. The difference between “slave” and “servant” is not important here. See how you translated the word servants in 2:20 or 19:2.
worship: Here the word worship refers to doing religious duties. These duties include worship and doing the work of a priest. Other ways to translate this word are:
do his will
do everything that he commands them to do
See how you translated this word in 7:15, where the BSB translates it as “serve.”
Him: This pronoun probably refers to God here.

John is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. That may help clarify that God and the Lamb do not share a single throne. Alternate translation: [the throne of God and the throne of the Lamb]
22:3 No longer . . . a curse: Ever since the first sin (Gen 3:14-19), humanity has been cursed because of their rebellion against God (see 1 Cor 16:22). Now rebellion, sin, and the curse are gone forever.
• his servants will worship him: Revelation gives glimpses of authentic worship (see Rev 4–5; 7:9-17).
