TSNTyndale Study Notes:

15:1-33 The principle of normal and abnormal and the created order again aids the interpretation of these regulations (see “Clean, Unclean, and Holy” Theme Note). Bodily discharges, such as infections (see study note on 13:1-46), were not “normal” because they weakened the vitality of the person, so the person was not seen as whole. Whether male (15:1-18) or female (15:19-33), such a person became unclean.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

וְכִפֶּ֨ר עָלֶ֤יהָ הַכֹּהֵן֙

and,make_atonement on/upon=it(f) the=priest/officer

See how you handled the abstract noun atonement in 1:4. However, in your translation, be careful not to convey the idea that the woman has sinned and so is in need of atonement. Here, atonement removes from the woman the impurity that she acquired from the blood that she has bled. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers in a footnote or in the text of your translation. Alternate translation: “And the priest shall present these offerings for her purification”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה

to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before YHWH

See how you translated this expression in 1:9.

מִזּ֖וֹב טֻמְאָתָֽהּ

for,discharge unclean,her

Alternate translation: “from her flow of blood that made her unclean”
