20:1 Paul travels to Macedonia and Achaia

20 After all the commotion had died down, Paul sent for the believers, and after greeting and encouraging them, he left Ephesus to go to Macedonia.[fn] 2 As he travelled through the districts, he challenged the people there with a lot of messages, until he eventually arrived in Greece. 3 He’d been there about three months when he heard about a plot by some Jews to waylay him as he boarded a ship to return to Syria, so instead he decided to return through Macedonia 4 with Sopater son of Pyrrhus from Berea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius from Derbe, Tychicus and Trophimus from the province of Asia Minor, and Timothy all accompanying him. 5 They went ahead and waited for us[fn] at Troas. 6 So we sailed out from Philippi after the Flat Bread Celebration. We arrived and meet the others there at Troas after a five-day trip, and then stayed on there for seven days.

20 And after the time the commotion to _cease, the Paulos having _sent _for the apprentices/followers and having _greeted having _exhorted, he _came _out to _be _going to Makedonia.
2 And having _passed _through the those districts, and having _exhorted them with_ much _speech, he _came to the Hellas.
3 And having _worked three months, a_plot by the Youdaiōns having _become to _him, going to _be _being _launched into the Suria/(ʼArām), he _became of_an_opinion which to _be _returning through Makedonia.
4 And Sōpatros of _Pyrrhus from _Beroia, And of_the_ones_from _Thessalonikaʸ Aristarⱪos and Sekoundos, and Gaios from _Derbaʸ, and Timotheos, And the_ones_from _Asia Tuⱪikos and Trofimos was _accompanying.
with _him.
5 And these having _approached were _remaining with _us in Trōias.
6 And we sailed _away from Filippou after the days of_ the _non-fermented bread, and until five days came to them at the Trōias, where we _stayed seven days.

20:7 Paul’s all-night discussions in Troas

7 On the Sunday we had gathered together to break bread together and Paul was discussing many things with them. As he was scheduled to leave the next day, the meeting went on towards midnight 8 and there were many lamps in the upper room where we had all gathered. 9 Now there was a young man named Eutychus who was sitting on the window sill, and as Paul went on, he fell asleep and toppled down from the third storey. The ones who reached him first thought he was dead, 10 but Paul had come downstairs and bent over Eutychus and held him in his arms and said to the crowd, “Don’t worry, he’s still alive.” 11 Then Paul went back up and broke the bread with the others, eating a little and continuing to talk with them until leaving at daybreak. 12 The locals took the young man home and were very relieved that he was alive.

7 And on the first day of _the week, us having _been _gathered _together to _break bread, the Paulos was _discussing with _them, going to _be _departing on _the day of _next, and was _prolonging the speech until midnight.
8 And there _were many lamps in the upper _room, where we _were having _been _gathered _together.
9 And a_certain young _man by_the_name Eutuⱪos sitting by the window, being _overcome by_ deep _sleep, the as_ Paulos _discussing on more, having _been _overcome by the sleep, he _fell down from the third _story, and was _taken _up dead.
10 But having _come _down, the Paulos fell _on on _him and having _embraced him said:
Be_ not _being _distressed, because/for the life of _him is in him.
11 And having _gone _up, and having _broke the bread and having _tasted it, and for having_ much _conversed until daybreak, thus he _came _out.
12 And they _brought the boy living, and were _comforted not moderately.

20:13 Sailing from Troas to Miletus

13 We went ahead to the ship and departed for Assos where it had been arranged that we’d pick up Paul because he wanted to walk there. 14 So when we met him at Assos, he boarded the ship and we all sailed on to Mitylene. 15 After we left Mitylene, we were out from Kios the next day, in Samos the day after that, and then the following day we arrived at Miletus. 16 Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus because he was hurrying to try to get the Yerushalem for the Day of Pentecost so he didn’t want to spend time in Asia Minor.

13 But we, having _approached to the ship, were _launched to the Assos, from _there going to _be _taking _up the Paulos, because/for thus having _been _directed, he_ himself _was going to _be _going _on _foot.
14 And when he _was _encountering with _us in the Assos, having _taken_ him _up, we _came to Mitulaʸnaʸ.
15 And _from _there having _sailed _away, on _the_ following _day we _arrived opposite Ⱪios, and on _the next day we _arrived in Samos, and on _the_ following _day we _came to Milaʸtos.
16 For/Because the Paulos had _judged to _sail _past the Efesos, so _that may_ not _become to _him to _spend _time in the Asia, because/for he _was _hurrying if possible it _might _be to _him, the day of_ the _pentecost to _become in Hierousalaʸm/(Yərūshālayim).

20:17 Paul’s farewell to the Ephesian elders

17 So while we were at Miletus, he sent a message to Ephesus for the elders of the assembly to come to him. 18 When they arrived, he told them, “You all know that from the very first day that I set foot in Asia Minor and for the entire time that I was there 19 I humbly served the master even through tears and trials when the Jews plotted to destroy me. 20 But I didn’t shrink back from teaching you everything that would help you, whether I was teaching in public or in individual homes. 21 I explained to both Jews and Greeks how they needed to turn their backs on their sins and towards God with faith in our master Yeshua the messiah.

22 However the spirit is now forcing me towards Yerushalem even though I don’t know what will happen to me there. 23 I just know that recently in every city, the holy spirit tells me that chains and hardships are waiting for me. 24 But I’ve never regarded my own life as being valuable—I only want to reach the end of my life having served in the way that the master Yeshua instructed me to speak out the good message about God’s grace.

25 So you see, I know that all of you from here where I passed through proclaiming God’s kingdom, you will never see me again. 26 That’s why I’m declaring to all of you today that I’m not guilty of your judgement 27 because I didn’t avoid telling you anything that I had from God. 28 So now you elders look after your own lives and those of your flock because the holy spirit chose you as overseers to shepherd the assembly of God’s people who he paid for with his very own blood. 29 I’m aware that after I leave, vicious wolves will come in amongst you and trying to steal the flock. 30 Even some of you will rise up and teach a message that’s warped but which will draw some of the believers away to follow it, 31 so take great care. Remember that for three years, I never stopped warning each of you along with my tears 32 so now I am leaving you all in God’s hands and with the message of his grace which is quite capable of helping you grow to receive the inheritance that’s for all those who’ve been purified.

33 I never envied anyone’s gold or silver or fancy clothes 34 and you yourselves know that I laboured with my own hands to cover my expenses and for those with me. 35 Yes, I showed you all that it’s good to work and to take care of the weaker ones and to remember the message of the master Yeshua when he said that it’s better to be a giver than a taker.”

36 When he’d finished speaking, Paul knelt down and prayed with them all. 37 Everyone was sobbing as they hugged and kissed him 38 because what he had said about never seeing him again had really distressed them. Then they accompanied him to his ship.

17 And from the Milaʸtos, having _sent to Efesos, he _summoned the elders of _the assembly.
18 And when they _arrived to him, he _said to _them:
You _all are _knowing from the_first day from which I _set _foot _in in the Asia, how I _became with you _all the whole time, 19 serving for _the master with all humility, and tears, and trials, in the plots of _the Youdaiōns which having _happened, to _me, 20 how I _shrunk _back nothing of _the_ benefitting _things which to_ not _declare to _you _all, and to _teach you _all with _publicly and in all homes, 21 testifying to_ both _Youdaiōns and to _Hellaʸns, which repentance toward god and faith toward the master of _us, Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa).

22 And now see, I having _been _bound by _the spirit, am _going to Hierousalaʸm, not having _known the things in it going _to _be _meeting with _me.
23 except that the the holy spirit in _every city is _testifying to _me, saying that bonds and tribulations are _remaining me.
24 But of _nothing account I _am _making the life precious to _myself, so _as I _may _complete the course of _me, and the service which I _received from the master Yaʸsous, to _testify the good _message of _the grace of_ the _god.
25 And now see, I have _known that you _all all among whom I _passed _through proclaiming the kingdom.

26 Therefore I _am _testifying to _you _all in the today day that I _am pure from the blood of _all, 27 for/because I_ not _shrunk _back which to_ not _declare all the counsel of_ the _god to _you _all.
28 Be _taking _heed to _yourselves and to _all the flock, among which the the holy spirit set you _all overseers, to _be _shepherding the assembly of _the of_god, which he _procured through his his own blood.
29 I have _known that after the departure of _me heavy wolves will _be _coming _in among you _all, not sparing from _the flock, 30 and from of _you _all yourselves men will _be _rising _up speaking having _been _perverted things, of _the thing to _be _drawing _out the apprentices/followers after themselves.
31 Therefore be _watching, remembering that night and day for _three _year, I_ not _ceased admonishing each one with tears.
32 And now the things I _am _entrusting you _all to_ the _god, and to _the message of _the grace of _him, which being _able to _build and to _give the an_inheritance among all the ones having _been _sanctified.
33 I _coveted of _silver, or gold, or clothing, of _no _one.
34 you _all_ yourselves _are _knowing that these the hands attended to _the needs of _me and to _the ones being with me.
35 all things I _showed to _you _all that thus labouring it _is _fitting to _be _taking _care of _the ones faltering, and to _be _remembering about _the messages of _the master Yaʸsous/(Yəhōshūˊa) that he said:
it _is more Blessed, to _be _giving than to _be _receiving.
36 And having _said these things, having _knelt the knees of _him, he _prayed with them all.
37 And much weeping became of _all, and having _embraced on the neck of_ the _Paulos, they _were _kissing him, 38 distressing most _of _all for the message which he _had _spoken that they _are_ no _longer _going to _be _observing the face of _him.
And they _were _accompanying him to the ship.
