OET (OET-LV)Yaʸsous which from Nazaret, how the god anointed him with_the_ holy _spirit and power, who passed_through doing_good and healing all the ones being_oppressed by the devil, because the god was with him.

OET (OET-RV)how God filled Yeshua from Nazareth with the holy spirit and with power, and who then went around doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / infostructure

Ἰησοῦν τὸν ἀπὸ Ναζαρέθ, ὡς ἔχρισεν αὐτὸν ὁ Θεὸς

Jesus (Some words not found in SR-GNT: Ἰησοῦν τόν ἀπό Ναζαρέτ ὡς ἔχρισεν αὐτόν ὁ Θεός Πνεύματι Ἁγίῳ καί δυνάμει ὅς διῆλθεν εὐεργετῶν καί ἰώμενος πάντας τούς καταδυναστευομένους ὑπό τοῦ διαβόλου ὅτι ὁ Θεός ἦν μετʼ αὐτοῦ)

It may be helpful to put the information about God anointing before the information that it was Jesus whom God anointed. Alternate translation: [how God anointed Jesus, the one from Nazareth,]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

Ἰησοῦν τὸν ἀπὸ Ναζαρέθ, ὡς ἔχρισεν αὐτὸν ὁ Θεὸς

Jesus (Some words not found in SR-GNT: Ἰησοῦν τόν ἀπό Ναζαρέτ ὡς ἔχρισεν αὐτόν ὁ Θεός Πνεύματι Ἁγίῳ καί δυνάμει ὅς διῆλθεν εὐεργετῶν καί ἰώμενος πάντας τούς καταδυναστευομένους ὑπό τοῦ διαβόλου ὅτι ὁ Θεός ἦν μετʼ αὐτοῦ)

Peter is once again saying implicitly that Cornelius and his guests know about the things he is describing. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could indicate that explicitly. It may be helpful to begin a new sentence here. Alternate translation: [You know how God anointed Jesus, the one from Nazareth,]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

ἔχρισεν αὐτὸν ὁ Θεὸς Πνεύματι Ἁγίῳ καὶ δυνάμει

anointed (Some words not found in SR-GNT: Ἰησοῦν τόν ἀπό Ναζαρέτ ὡς ἔχρισεν αὐτόν ὁ Θεός Πνεύματι Ἁγίῳ καί δυνάμει ὅς διῆλθεν εὐεργετῶν καί ἰώμενος πάντας τούς καταδυναστευομένους ὑπό τοῦ διαβόλου ὅτι ὁ Θεός ἦν μετʼ αὐτοῦ)

Peter speaks of the Holy Spirit and of God’s power as if they could be poured over someone like oil. Alternate translation: [God enabled him to do powerful works through the Holy Spirit]

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

εὐεργετῶν

doing_good

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of good, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [doing good things] or [helping people]

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / hyperbole

πάντας τοὺς καταδυναστευομένους ὑπὸ τοῦ διαβόλου

all (Some words not found in SR-GNT: Ἰησοῦν τόν ἀπό Ναζαρέτ ὡς ἔχρισεν αὐτόν ὁ Θεός Πνεύματι Ἁγίῳ καί δυνάμει ὅς διῆλθεν εὐεργετῶν καί ἰώμενος πάντας τούς καταδυναστευομένους ὑπό τοῦ διαβόλου ὅτι ὁ Θεός ἦν μετʼ αὐτοῦ)

Peter says all as a generalization for emphasis. Alternate translation: [those who were oppressed by the devil] or [many people who were oppressed by the devil]

Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

ὁ Θεὸς ἦν μετ’ αὐτοῦ

¬the ¬the (Some words not found in SR-GNT: Ἰησοῦν τόν ἀπό Ναζαρέτ ὡς ἔχρισεν αὐτόν ὁ Θεός Πνεύματι Ἁγίῳ καί δυνάμει ὅς διῆλθεν εὐεργετῶν καί ἰώμενος πάντας τούς καταδυναστευομένους ὑπό τοῦ διαβόλου ὅτι ὁ Θεός ἦν μετʼ αὐτοῦ)

The expression was with him is an idiom. See how you translated it in [7:9](../07/09.md). Alternate translation: [God was helping him]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

10:36-43 Peter repeatedly underscores the importance of the apostolic witnesses to the message of Good News. The apostles ate and drank with Jesus (see Luke 24:41-43) and were eyewitnesses of his resurrection, so they could attest that he had conquered death (see Acts 3:15; 4:33; 13:30-31). The original apostles were chosen in advance to be his witnesses (see 1:12-26); gradually, others such as Paul and Barnabas carried on this powerful preaching and teaching in the name of Jesus Christ (9:15; 14:1-3; 26:16).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.

Acknowledgements: The SR Greek text, lemmas, morphology, and VLT gloss are all thanks to the CNTR.
