OET (OET-LV)And about_him wishing to_pass_through into the Aⱪaia, the brothers having_encouraged him, wrote to_the apprentices/followers to_welcome him, who having_arrived, contributed much to_the ones having_believed through the grace.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-pronouns

βουλομένου & αὐτοῦ

wishing & ˱about˲_him

The pronoun he refers to Apollos. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: “when Apollos desired”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

διελθεῖν εἰς τὴν Ἀχαΐαν

/to/_pass_through into ¬the Achaia

Luke uses the expression pass over here because Apollos had to cross the Aegean Sea to get to Achaia from Ephesus. Your language may have its own way of describing travel across a body of water. Alternate translation: “to go across the sea to Achaia”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

οἱ ἀδελφοὶ

the brothers

Luke is using the term brothers to mean people who share the same faith. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “the believers”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

τοῖς πεπιστευκόσιν διὰ τῆς χάριτος

˱to˲_the ˱to˲_the_‹ones› /having/_believed through ¬the grace

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of grace, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: “those whom God had graciously led to believe”

OET (OET-RV) Now Apollos wanted to go to Achaia, so the believers encouraged him and sent a letter ahead of him to tell the believers there to welcome him, so when he arrived there, he was able to contribute a lot to those who through God’s grace had also become believers.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Greek words that they’re translated from.
