OET (OET-LV)Therefore whether I or those, thus we_are_proclaiming, and thus you_all_believed.

OET (OET-RV)Anyway, whether it was me or them, we all preach that same good message, and that’s how you all came to belief.

SIL Open Translator’s Notes:

Section 15:1–58: Believers will rise from the dead

In this section Paul reminded the Corinthian believers about the gospel and showed them that the resurrection from the dead was an important part of the gospel. First (15:1–11) he wrote about the evidence showing that God raised Christ from the dead. Then (15:12–34) he taught that God will raise believers from the dead. Finally (15:35–58) he taught about what the resurrection body will be like.

Here are some other possible section headings:

The resurrection

People who die will live again

Christ has risen and his people will rise also

Paragraph 15:9–11

In this paragraph Paul wrote how God chose him and made him an apostle. He emphasized that the gospel he preached and the gospel the other apostles preached was the same.

15:11a

Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach,

Whether…it was I or they: Paul indicated that it was not important whether it was he or the other apostles who preached, because they all preached the same gospel.

Here is another way to translate this phrase:

But it doesn’t matter if I preached or if they preached (CEV)

they: The pronoun they refers to the other apostles. The NCV makes this explicit:

if I preached to you or the other apostles preached to you (NCV)

then: The Greek word that the BSB translates as then introduces a conclusion Paul made from his previous statement. It is not a time word. Here is another way to translate this:

So then (GNT)

this is what we preach: The word this refers to the gospel Paul wrote about in 15:3–8. In some languages it may be natural to translate it as “that.”

Here are some other ways to translate this clause:

that is what we(excl) preach

we all preach the same thing (NCV)

that is the message we brought you

we: The pronoun we is exclusive. It refers to Paul and the other apostles, but does not include the Corinthians.

15:11b

and this is what you believed.

and this is what you believed: The word this refers back to the content of the gospel that Paul stated in 15:3–8.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis

εἴτε & ἐγὼ εἴτε ἐκεῖνοι

whether & (Some words not found in SR-GNT: εἴτε Οὖν ἐγώ εἴτε ἐκεῖνοι οὕτως κηρύσσομεν καί οὕτως ἐπιστεύσατε)

Here Paul introduces I and they without a verb. He does this to identify whom he means when he uses we later in the verse. If your language needs a verb in this situation, you could use a verb that introduces or brings up characters or ideas. Alternate translation: [whether we are talking about me or them] or [whether we are referring to me or to them]

Note 2 topic: writing-pronouns

ἐκεῖνοι

those

Here, just as in [15:10](../15/10.md), they refers back to the “apostles” that Paul mentions in [15:9](../15/09.md). If it would be helpful in your language, you could express this reference by referring explicitly to “apostles” here. Alternate translation: [other apostles]

Note 3 topic: writing-pronouns

οὕτως κηρύσσομεν, καὶ οὕτως ἐπιστεύσατε

thus ˱we˲_˓are˒_proclaiming thus (Some words not found in SR-GNT: εἴτε Οὖν ἐγώ εἴτε ἐκεῖνοι οὕτως κηρύσσομεν καί οὕτως ἐπιστεύσατε)

In both places, in this way could refer to: (1) the gospel as Paul has outlined it in [15:3–8](../15/03.md). Alternate translation: [it is this gospel that we preach, and it is this gospel that you believed] (2) the “grace” that Paul discussed in the last verse ([15:10](../15/10.md)). Alternate translation: [by God’s grace we preach, and by God’s grace you believed]

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / exclusive

κηρύσσομεν

˱we˲_˓are˒_proclaiming

Here, we refers to I and they earlier in the sentence. It includes Paul and other apostles but not the Corinthians.
