uW Translation Notes:

(Occurrence 0) He will enter by way of the gate’s portico and go out the same way

(Some words not found in UHB: DOM the,prince prince he/it sit in/on/over=him/it to,eat food/grain/bread to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before YHWH by,way_of portico_of the,gate enter and,by,way_of,its go_out )

He will enter the courtyard through another gate and then sit in the portico of the east gate and eat.

(Occurrence 0) portico

(Some words not found in UHB: DOM the,prince prince he/it sit in/on/over=him/it to,eat food/grain/bread to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before YHWH by,way_of portico_of the,gate enter and,by,way_of,its go_out )

covering in front of an entrance with columns or posts for support. In this case, the portico opens into the courtyard and is between the entrance to the temple and the inside of the gate. See how you translated this in [Ezekiel 8:16](../08/16.md).

(Occurrence 0) before Yahweh

(Some words not found in UHB: DOM the,prince prince he/it sit in/on/over=him/it to,eat food/grain/bread to=(the)_face_of/in_front_of/before YHWH by,way_of portico_of the,gate enter and,by,way_of,its go_out )

Alternate translation: “in front of Yahweh” or “in the presence of Yahweh”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

44:3 Though the prince had the significant privilege of being the only one allowed to feast in the Lord’s presence inside the east outer gateway, he was restricted to entering and leaving the portico from the outer court. He was not to enter from outside the Temple complex by going through the gate, as the Lord had; the earthly ruler is a man, not God, and he must submit to God. The prince must also never forget that the Temple is God’s palace, not his own private chapel.
