If it would be clearer in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation. Alternate translation: [Speak to the sons of Israel. Say to them that a man, a man, when he is unclean to a person or is on a distant way, for them or for their generations]

Here the masculine terms a man, a man and he have a generic sense that includes both men and women. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could use language in your translation that is clearly inclusive of both men and women. Since the verses that follow use plural forms, you could also use plural forms here. Alternate translation: [A person, a person, when he or she is unclean … then he or she shall do]

In Hebrew, the repetition of A man, a man creates emphasis. If your language has different ways to show emphasis, you could use one of those instead. See how you translated this phrase in [5:12](../05/12.md). Alternate translation: [Any man]

בְ⁠דֶ֨רֶךְ רְחֹקָ֜הׄ

The phrase on a distant way was a common expression meaning “on a long journey” or “traveling far away.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [on a journey far away]

לָ⁠כֶ֗ם א֚וֹ לְ⁠דֹרֹ֣תֵי⁠כֶ֔ם

to/for=you(pl) or to,generations_of,your(pl)

By for you or for your generations, Yahweh means that these instructions apply both to the people who were alive at that time and to all their descendants who would live later. You could indicate this explicitly in your translation if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [which applies to you and to your generations]

Yahweh is using a future statement to give an instruction or command. If it would be helpful in your language, you could translate these words then he will do using a command or instruction form. Alternate translation: [then he may do]
