OET (OET-LV) for/because they_are spirits of_demons perfor/becauseming signs, to_be_going_out to the kings the inhabited_world whole, to_gather_together them to the war the great day of_ the _god the almighty.
OET (OET-RV) because they are demons’ spirits that are able to do miraculous signs. They went out to the rulers all over the world to gather them together for battle on the great day of God, the ruler of all.
In this section, each of the seven angels in turn poured God’s wrath from his bowl. Each angel caused a different plague to happen on the earth. The people of the earth suffered greatly from the plagues, but they refused to repent.
Other examples of headings for this section are:
The seven angels poured God’s wrath from seven bowls
The seven bowls of God’s anger
These are demonic spirits that perform signs
They are demonic/evil spirits doing miracles/portents,
They are evil spirits, ones who do wondrous signs.
demonic spirits: The Greek phrase that the BSB translates as demonic spirits is literally “spirit of demons” (as in the NIV84). Here the phrase indicates that these spirits were demons. They were not some other kind of spirit. Other ways to translate this phrase are:
evil spirits (CEV)
diabolical spirits (JBP)
demonic: This word refers to evil spirit beings. The phrase “demonic spirits” does not refer to the spirits of dead people. See how you translated this word in 9:20.
perform signs: The Greek word that the BSB translates as perform signs refers to an unusual event that people regard as having a special meaning. These signs were probably miracles that convinced people to follow the dragon and the two beasts. Other ways to translate the Greek word are:
miracles (NJB)
mysterious sights
portents
wonders (JBP)
See how you translated this Greek word in 13:13.
and go out to all the kings of the earth,
and they go to the kings/leaders of the whole inhabited earth,
They go to every leader of the countries on earth
all the kings of the earth: There is a textual issue in 16:14b: (1) Early Greek manuscripts have the word kings (BSB, RSV, NIV, GNT, NJB, NASB, NLT, GW, CEV, NET, NABRE, REB, ESV, NCV). (2) A few later Greek manuscripts have the words kings of the earth and (KJV only). It is recommended that you follow option (1), because the UBS Greek NT supports it. The Greek word that the BSB translates as earth here refers to the inhabited earth. Other ways to translate this phrase are:
kings of all countries on the earth
every king on earth
kings: This word here refers to the leaders of the nations.
to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty.
to gather them for the war on the important/extraordinary day of God All-Powerful.
to bring them together to make war. That will be the great day, the day when God the All-Powerful will conquer!
battle: The Greek word here refers to war, whether short (as in a single battle on a single day) or long (many battles over days or months). For example:
war (NJB)
the great day of God the Almighty: This phrase refers to a day when God does something special. On the great day referred to here, God will destroy his enemies. For example:
the great day of victory of God Almighty
The CEV translates this as a separate clause:
that will be the day of God’s great victory
Some languages need to explain how the day is great. For example:
the day that God Almighty does a great deed
the day that God Almighty has a great victory
the Almighty: This word is a title which means “one with the power to do anything.” For example:
the All-Powerful (NET)
See how you translated this word in 1:8 or 16:7.

signs
John is using the word signs here in the same sense as in [13:13](../13/13.md). See how you translated the word there. Alternate translation: [miracles]
16:1-21 These seven bowls filled with God’s wrath represent the final judgments on the world; with the seventh bowl, “It is finished!” is shouted from God’s throne (16:17; cp. John 19:30).
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
