23:6 Since before crossing the Jordan River to take the land of Canaan, Joshua’s guiding principle had been to be very careful to follow everything Moses wrote and not deviate. Now he passed on these instructions to the leaders who would succeed him in leading Israel.

Joshua is speaking of two directions in order to mean them and everything in between. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: “not to turn aside from it in any direction”

Joshua is speaking as if following God”s law were like walking on a path. If it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “not to disobey it in any way”
