BrTrAnd if the man be too poor for the valuation, he shall stand before the priest; and the priest shall value him: according to what the man who has vowed can afford, the priest shall value him.

ULTAnd if he is poorer than your valuation, then he must present himself to the face of the priest, and the priest will value him. According to what the hand of the one making the vow produces the priest will value him.

USTIf anyone who has made such a solemn promise is very poor and unable to pay to set free the person whom he has given to Yahweh, he must take that person to the priest. The priest will set the price for freeing him to an amount that the person can pay.

BSBBut if the one making the vow is too poor to pay the valuation, he is to present the person[fn] before the priest, who shall set the value according to what the one making the vow can afford.

Si enim quemlibet nobis subditum Dei servitio obtulerimus, in ministerium nostrum recipere non debemus, promittentes pro eo vel meliorem, vel minus bonum. Quantum ille æstimaverit. Id est quantum viderit eum posse satisfactionis imponet: sed si locuples est, ut distribuat pecuniam, si sanus jejunet, oret, laboret.

27:8 As in the offering system (see 5:7-13), special consideration was given to the poor person who wanted to contribute to the sanctuary. In such cases, the amount of silver to accompany the pledge was left to the priest’s discretion.
