OET (OET-LV)And_I_will_give you in_their_of_hand and_they_will_tear_down mound_of_your and_they_will_be_broken_down places_of_your_high and_they_will_strip_off you clothes_of_your and_they_will_take the_articles_of your_beauty_of_of and_they_will_leave_you nakedness and_bareness.

OET (OET-RV)I’ll allow them to conquer you so they’ll tear apart your mounds and break down your tall shrines, and they’ll strip your clothes off you and take all your jewellery—leaving you naked and bare.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

(Occurrence 0) I will give you into their hands

(Some words not found in UHB: and,I_will_give ,you in,their_of,hand and,they_will_tear_down mound_of,your and,they_will_be_broken_down places_of,your_high and,they_will_strip_off ,you clothes_of,your and,they_will_take vessels_of your_beauty_of,of and,they,will_leave_you naked and,bareness )

Here “hands” represents power or control. Alternate translation: “I will place you in their control” or “I will allow them to have power over you”

(Occurrence 0) throw down your vaulted chamber

(Some words not found in UHB: and,I_will_give ,you in,their_of,hand and,they_will_tear_down mound_of,your and,they_will_be_broken_down places_of,your_high and,they_will_strip_off ,you clothes_of,your and,they_will_take vessels_of your_beauty_of,of and,they,will_leave_you naked and,bareness )

Possible meanings are that they will destroy (1) the place where she worshiped her idols or (2) the place where she practiced her prostitution. See how you translated “vaulted chamber” in [Ezekiel 16:24](../16/24.md).

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / doublet

(Occurrence 0) naked and bare

(Some words not found in UHB: and,I_will_give ,you in,their_of,hand and,they_will_tear_down mound_of,your and,they_will_be_broken_down places_of,your_high and,they_will_strip_off ,you clothes_of,your and,they_will_take vessels_of your_beauty_of,of and,they,will_leave_you naked and,bareness )

These two words mean the same thing. See how you translated this in [Ezekiel 16:7](../16/07.md). Alternate translation: “completely naked”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

16:1-63 Jerusalem is exposed as a wanton prostitute. Even in the relatively mild form of the English translation, ch 16 is hard to read, and it was at least as shocking in the ancient context. Ezekiel was graphically communicating the full ugliness and offensiveness of Judah’s sin. He refused to be polite when discussing his people’s depravity. In fact, his refusal to tone down the offensiveness of Jerusalem’s sin is precisely the point of the passage. The offensive nature of the portrayal was critical to its effectiveness because Ezekiel’s hearers could understand that God’s awful judgment upon them was justified only if they first understood the magnitude of their sin in his sight. A less graphic presentation would not have adequately communicated this message.
