uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

fall at Ramoth Gilead

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said YHWH who? entice DOM ʼAḩʼāⱱ and,go_up and,fall in/on/at/with, גִּלְעָד and=he/it_said this in/on/at/with,this and=this said in/on/at/with,that )

Ahab dying in battle is spoken of as if he will fall. Alternate translation: “die at Ramoth Gilead” (See also: figs-euphemism)

One of them said … and another one said

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said YHWH who? entice DOM ʼAḩʼāⱱ and,go_up and,fall in/on/at/with, גִּלְעָד and=he/it_said this in/on/at/with,this and=this said in/on/at/with,that )

“One … and another” refers to two or more angels in the heavenly host who were responding to Yahweh’s question in the previous verse.

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

22:19-23 Micaiah explained that God had allowed a lying spirit of prophecy to mislead Ahab to bring about his death. In his sovereignty, God used the counsel of Ahab’s false prophets to accomplish his will.
