The author is speaking as if the name of Israel were actually written in ink on a scroll somewhere and that Yahweh would actually wipe the ink off the scroll. The word that the ULT translates as saved here comes from the same root as the word that it translates as “savior” in [13:5](../13/05.md). There, after saying that Yahweh “saw the oppression of Israel,” the author says that “Yahweh gave to Israel a savior.” The similarity of language between that passage and this one suggests that the author meant that Jeroboam was that “savior.” To help your readers make this connection, see how you translated the term in [13:5](../13/05.md) that the ULT translates as “savior” and translate the term saved similarly here. Alternate translation: [so he delivered them] or [so he rescued them]
