OET (OET-LV) Only against_YHWH do_not rebel and_you(pl) do_not fear DOM the_people_of the_earth/land if/because be_our_bread_of_will they shade_of_their it_has_departed from_over_them and_YHWH is_with_us do_not fear_them.
OET (OET-RV) However, you all mustn’t rebel against Yahweh, and you mustn’t be scared of the people in that area because they’ll be like bread for us. There’s nothing left to protect them as Yahweh is with us, so don’t be afraid.”
Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-words-phrases
אַ֣ךְ
only
Here the word Only introduces something that is very important because of the previous statement. If the connection between this statement and the previous one is not clear, you may want to use a different connecting word to show how this statement relates to what comes before it. Alternate translation: [So it is important that]
Note 2 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result
וְאַתֶּ֗ם אַל־תִּֽירְאוּ֙ אֶת־עַ֣ם הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּ֥י לַחְמֵ֖נוּ הֵ֑ם
and,you(pl) not fear DOM people the=earth/land that/for/because/then/when be]_our_bread_of,[will they
If it would be more natural in your language, you could reverse the order of these phrases, since the second phrase gives the reason for the result that you shall not fear the people of the land describes. Alternate translation: [and because the people of the land are our bread, you, you shall not fear them]
Note 3 topic: writing-pronouns
וְאַתֶּ֗ם אַל־תִּֽירְאוּ֙
and,you(pl) not fear
Here the author is repeating the pronoun you along with the verb translated as shall not fear, which already includes its meaning. He is doing that to emphasize that the Israelites should trust God rather than be afraid. If a speaker of your language would use explicit pronouns for the same purpose, you may want to use that construction in your translation. If not, your language may have other ways of showing that meaning here. Alternate translation: [and you shall not fear]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
לַחְמֵ֖נוּ הֵ֑ם
be]_our_bread_of,[will they
Here, Joshua and Caleb are speaking as if the Canaanites were actually bread. They mean that the Israelites will defeat them as easily as they eat food. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [they are like our bread] or [we will conquer them as easily as eating bread]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
סָ֣ר צִלָּ֧ם מֵעֲלֵיהֶ֛ם
removed shade_of,their from,over,them
Here, Joshua and Caleb are speaking as if the protection the Canaanites had were actually a shadow that had departed from them. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [Any protection they had is gone]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
