Sed docentur intelligere illam exaltationem datam ad majorem excæcationem, et tandem juste inferri æternam damnationem.

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

17:6 God’s holy people . . . were witnesses for Jesus to the point of shedding their blood (see 16:6; Heb 12:4). In John’s time, Rome was responsible for this persecution.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism

ἐκ τοῦ αἵματος τῶν ἁγίων, καὶ ἐκ τοῦ αἵματος τῶν μαρτύρων Ἰησοῦ

with the blood ˱of˲_the holy_‹ones› and with the blood ˱of˲_the witnesses ˱of˲_Jesus

These two phrases mean similar things. John is using repetition to emphasize the idea that the phrases express. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could combine them. Alternate translation: “from the blood of the saints who had borne witness to Jesus”

Note 2 topic: writing-poetry

ἐθαύμασα & θαῦμα μέγα

˱I˲_marveled & wonder great

John is using a construction in which a verb and its object come from the same root. You may be able to use the same construction in your language to express the meaning here. Alternatively, your language may have its own way of expressing the same meaning. Alternate translation: “I wondered greatly”
